The Raptor grasping device combines alligator grasping forceps and rat tooth forceps capabilities into one device, helping to increase the gripping ability for a stronger hold during foreign body retrieval and stent removal. The foreign body grasping forceps are available in three different sizes offering the versatility needed during endoscopic procedures of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract and biliary tract.
How the Raptor grasping device works
Endoscopic grasping instruments, such as rat tooth forceps, are often used to manage ingested foreign bodies and food impactions. The Raptor grasping device is intended to grasp tissue and retrieve foreign bodies, excised tissue, and stents during endoscopic procedures. The device offers a hybrid jaw configuration, maximizing the precision and strength of a disposable alligator forceps and rat tooth forceps endoscopy device in one.

What are rat tooth forceps used for?
Rat tooth forceps are used to grasp foreign bodies, such as safety pins and paperclips, where the rat teeth can be beneficial in wrapping around the object for a more secure grasp. Rat teeth grasping devices are also used to retrieve coins as well as esophageal and biliary stents and can be beneficial in debriding a food bolus.
What is another name for rat tooth forceps?
Rat tooth forceps are also referred to as grasping forceps.
What is another name for alligator/rat tooth forceps?
Forceps with both alligator/rat tooth capabilities are commonly referred to as hybrid grasping forceps.
When do you use grasping forceps?
Grasping forceps are used whenever the physician sees a need to grasp a foreign body with rat teeth (i.e., paperclip, safety pin, coins, stents) or to use the alligator teeth to ensure a secure grip on excised tissue.
